Weakened Awakening…revitalized armed groups

It seems like a crack is passing through the built of the Awakening movements for reasons that aren't completely clear yet while the armed groups are getting their power and arrangements back, they even started to show up and carry on some operations and the two things have some kind of an invisible link in-between.

I tried my best to find about what happened last week; the two hours bullet show…and I got the most assured information that I can get…what happened is like this; the US troops with the Iraqi army are releasing large number of prisoners from the Apache base in Adhamiya, they made a condition that every prisoner must have someone to bail him, so some prisoners didn't have a bailer and that's when the leader of the "Support council" (which is some kind of Awakening) offered to bail every prisoner and it seems the Awakening didn't like this specially if we know that the Awakening is a really complex structure because its members are either former members of AlQaida or people who really don't like AlQaida and were damaged from them or some normal people who wants to have a job! And I can surely say that there is a good number of AQ members among those prisoners as a colleague of mine said when he was talking about his neighbor who is a released prisoner:" I can assure you Mohammed he was in AQ, I'm sure of that as I'm sure of my name…he was released and few hours 4 members of the Awakening came to visit him!! can you believe that…I bet the situation will get worst pretty soon"…so that caused some dispute between the Awakening and the support council…and since we are hearing a lot about the possibility of discharging the Awakening I see it important to know that causes with some history information…from the first day of the Awakening establishment AlHakim and the Higher council of the Islamic revolution didn't like it and wanted to do whatever they can to prevent it from happening for a simple reason that is they don't want legally armed Sunni militias and that's why there was Awakenings in the Shiite areas too to balance the situation and as I said earlier I'm reading Bremer's book now "My year in Iraq' and you can feel what I say in every meeting between Bremer and AlHakim…so it's a very high possibility that the Awakening will be discharged and this will be coordinating with the new wave of the recently trained in Iran armed groups.
As the spokesman of the multinational forces in Iraq said; the armed groups are growing stronger again after they received appropriate training in Iran especially for the use of the silent guns and stick pack bombs to carry on assassinations operations. I think it's clear whose style is this!!....The plan for recruiting them is like this; they take the ones who I'm ashamed to call the Iraqis to Iran and they receive special training by the Iranian AlQuds brigade and they get back to Iraq through the eastern borders…just today the US forces captured two of them in Kut government and they were so drunk to a level that they couldn't stand!! They act under the mask of religion and they drink in Ramadan which is the holiest month for the Muslims!! Also there is some rumors that they will begin a fierce campaign in Qadisia government.
Today those groups begun acting…The chief of the Iraqi journalists union (Moaiad Alami) was slightly injured with some scratches and a number of civilians when an explosive pack detonated near the gate of the union…I was there after the explosion because there is a gas station near the union and I wanted to fill my car but I saw the street was closed by US soldiers and Iraqi police…
Only god knows what the coming days are hiding for us.

Can a sleeping pill coated with Journalists' blood with a cup of Cholera infected water put the awakening back to sleep?

This week was so disturbed on so many levels, it's like the scenarios of the last year being played again and the hot shots in Washington are bragging about how stable the situation is and how they have accomplished their mission for the "new Iraq".

The Cholera is back to action with so many infected cases and more awareness about the disease; for example in the small hospital that I work in now we received orders from the ministry to do Cholera investigation for any diarrhea case that attend the hospital and I must say that the ministry of health is doing a very good job to contain the disease but containing such disease needs cooperation between several ministries, the ministry of health made a program to give (for free) water sterilization tablets for the people through the governmental clinics and hospitals depending on the ration cards, daily I witness many poor Iraqi families coming to the hospital I work in which lies in the suburban of Baghdad to take their pills and I should mention the good educational posters' program about Cholera and since we are in it and I'm talking about health and it's ministry I should say that the new minister in my opinion is a real Iraqi and I'm so proud because he is the minister of the ministry I work for, he did so many good things and the ministry have much improved since he came whether the improvement was on the security level or the functional level…the ministry became a safe place to visit after it was a bunker for AlMahdi army and a man used to think million times before he goes there, even the posters for the religious clerics are noticeably less…the ministry is functioning a lot better now although in my clinic I don't have filling materials, the drilling instruments are not working even the light is not working and the anesthesia depleted today, I was able to offer the extraction treatment only although I personally look at extraction as a destruction rather than a treatment in most cases but I can't blame the ministry for this because they have massive amounts of everything but I should blame the district's health office because I literally begged them so many times (even hair grew on my tongue as the famous Iraqi saying) to support me with filling materials but it's like talking to deaf people. The problem and what really makes me sad is that the residents of the area I work in thinks that it's my fault or I don't want to treat them! I'm thinking of writing a complain to the minister about this because it's the responsibility of the district's health office to support me with whatever I request because I'm in a direct contact with them but I believe they are busy with corruption and stealing the public money.

At Sunday and as I was on my way to work a road side bomb exploded not far from where I was, it wasn't strong but if I went out of home one minute later I would be close to it but as Mr.Bush is saying life is back to normal! I don't think anybody was severely injured and at that same day a car bomb exploded near the medical city around noon, few hours later two cars exploded in Adhamiya near Awakening checkpoints then there was an interval of silence followed by two hours of continuous shooting! I was buying bottled water from the shop close to my home when a kid came and told the shop owner "Amo Jamal was killed…he was walking near Antar square and 4 bullets entered his chest and killed him" and I don't need to tell you what happened to the shop owner when he heard that but I asked the kid "Who killed him, why is this shooting?" and the kid said "They are Iranians trying to enter Adhamiya and there is a confrontation between the Awakening and the Iranians" but that was what the kid said…I called so many friends and relatives in Adhamiya but no one gave me an answer that he is sure about, some said that they were Iranians (the kid), some said they were from the "Support" who are another kind of Awakening and some said it's between the Awakening of Adhamiya and Raghiba Khatoon while some said it's between the Awakening themselves….I might meet with a high ranked officer in the Awakening in the coming days and I'll update this post with what he will say.

I want to strongly condemn the ugly crime of killing four brave journalists from AlSharqiya channel of the program "Fotorkm Alena" (your Iftar is on our expense) it really squeezed my heart with an iron fist, they were two cameramen, a driver and the producer of the program in Mousil…The program is about going to an afflicted family everyday (a women who lost her husband due to violence and have many young kids or Iraqi refugees in the neighboring countries living in miserable conditions) and stay with them for that day preparing a good Iftar meal and giving them home appliances that worth 2000$ as a gift, 2000$ cash and a Quran …I can't describe the happiness on the faces of those afflicted Iraqis, I watch this show daily after I eat my Iftar and I feel so happy because at least today some of those poor Iraqis felt happiness and their situation improved a little and I couldn't but thank AlSharqiya for what they did and continue doing until it was the disaster and the will of evil to kill whatever good there is….the cast of the program were preparing the show in AlZangeele in Mousil but they were kidnapped in an SUV with 5 gunmen and they were taken out of AlZangeele where the cowards killed the brave warriors…and I feel that some evident must be told, AlZangeele is a weapons free area and it has been sterilized from the insurgents and all the entrances and exits of it are well guarded and under total control of the Iraqi army, so how could the gunmen kidnap and kill the brave warriors unless those cowards were from the government! The government took AlSharqiya as its enemy and it closed their offices so many times and banned them from working in Iraq for several months, AlSharqiya channel is accusing the government for this crime.
I'm honored to salute all the free and honest Journalists working in Iraq and tell them that they are real warriors in my eyes; they are the warriors of truth, god bless you….for the four brave warriors of AlSharqiya, rest in peace and may heaven be your eternal home because you deserve it.

The above photos are for the families of the brave journalists.

Bush and Bremer

This name is not for a new brand or for cars' spare parts manufacturer, clearly. It's not for a company although they might be considered a company that played a great role in the daily deterioration of the Iraqi life…well; it might be a bit strange to talk about Bremer at this time but some events which occurred at the same time that draw me to write about this.
As I said before it is Ramadan now and in Ramadan most dentists (including me) spend their time meditating instead of treating people and do their jobs because most people have a false idea and believe in a myth that if they are injected with dental anesthesia then they can't continue their fasting for that day, I'm not a religious cleric but from what I have read and heard from many religious people that it's OK to take a dental anesthesia and continue fasting as long as you don't swallow blood or water…any way, since I have no work and I got really bored from sitting in the clinic and staring at the walls I decided to take advantage of this time and read some books that I wanted to read long time ago but didn't have time and I decided to start with the book "My year in Iraq" for Paul Bremer (The Arabic version) because I couldn't find the English one…I took it with me and went to the clinic but before I started to read I though it would be a good idea to hear some news in the radio first and I turned on the mobile's radio and the first thing I heard was about the recent decision of the US administration to withdraw 3800 soldiers for now and a total of 8000 soldiers in the coming few months to be deployed in Afghanistan and how McCain is happy for that and encouraging Bush to do it and how they are talking about the situation in Iraq and how "Back to normal" it is!! And that started a conclusion in my head…why now? Who are they fooling, it's a clear political maneuver…I think that Bush decided to do that motivated by his arrogance or his desire to own a good page in the disgraceful book of modern human's history, he wanted to look like the great leader of the "modern free world" who started a war (that most people see it as big mistake or at least had big mistakes) and ended it or at least started it's end and achieved victory in his presidential time and I must admit it's a really smart move. I began thinking to my self "What will happen when they leave?", "will they really leave? I think they will reduce the number of their troops but it's a sure thing they will keep their bases and control over any Iraqi government whether it was patriotic or not otherwise why do they insist on signing the deal that insures their staying in Iraq for god knows how long" and "can a new Iraqi government arise that is composed of honest and real Iraqis, that is composed of people who loves their country or at least try their best to serve it and it's people…is it possible that we will be able to walk in the streets without fearing for our lives?" and that's when my childish dreams were interrupted by a conversation between two technicians in the clinic "did you hear about Ahmed? He was taken by the Iraqi commandos in a raid yesterday where they captured people randomly…you wouldn't wish what happened to the young men to happen even to your enemy, you should see the kicks and boxes they have taken, you should see how they used the back of their rifles….man, they were treating them as if they were sheep" I asked:" Where they looking for someone specific or just a random raid…how many did they took? Who did they took?" and he answered "they weren't looking for anyone specific, they took most of the young men despite that they haven't found anything in their homes" and I laughed with myself and said" they haven't even started their withdrawal and Mr.Bush is taking with his Buddy McCain about how normal the situation is in Iraq" and I got back to my book and started reading, I finished about 60 pages and I must say it's a well written book and I really enjoyed my time while I was reading it despite that it gives some false ideas and contains many fancy words like "freedom", "free world", "helping the Iraqi people" and "democracy" because I really get sick when I hear those words , it also gives the idea that all the Shiites were so damaged, persecuted and abused by Saddam's regiment while the Sunnis were living like kings and the truth is Sunnis and Shiites suffered almost the same but since the Shiites are a lot more than Sunnis then a sure thing they will appear more persecuted, that's what I think added to that he didn't allow the Shiites to have their right in having their religious rituals and so many other things that I don't want to mention here in order not to drift from the subject but that was what I didn't see as truth in the first 60 pages….as I was reading the book it took me back to the time that he was talking about and I almost lived in it, I was able to smell and feel like I did at that time, I remembered my feelings when I saw the first US marine in my block, I remembered the ugly looting and how the US soldiers stood their doing nothing, I remembered the days of war and how it felt like.
Now it's time to get back home and I was getting in my car that I parked in front of a concrete block and I remembered what my friend said once and I laughed so loud "if they take all those blocks that is filling every inch of Iraq and put them on the borders, just put them on the borders and make one opening to each neighboring country with a thousand soldiers I swear Iraq will be great in one month"

Irony

I want to write about three things….first one is an event that the media tried so hard to cover it up but the word spread because of the witnesses and the other thing is the awakening and the current developments and I'll finish it with a real irony.
The event I want to talk about took place in Alshaab international stadium where the final match for the Iraqi league between AlZawraa and Arbil took place at August 24th 2008 with 50,000 Iraqi in the stadium and many "hot shots" attended the match like Ali AlDabag (Government spokesman), Aboud Kanbar (the leader of Baghdad operations), Kasim Atta and Amar AlHakim with some US army officers and soldiers…some say that the audience begun throwing trash and empty water bottles on the US soldiers (a friend of mine show me a photo for this but it was in a mobile phone that don't have a Bluetooth and he said that he will send it by email but he didn't till now) and some say that the people begun cheering "No..No..USA" "No No to traitors" then all of them begun cheering "Brothers Sunni and Shiite…we will not sell this country"

Few days ago I knew that the awakening will begin taking their salary from the Iraqi government starting from October…well, this might appear like good news but I'm fearing that it might be bad when one thinks well about it.
Since day one of the awakening establishment the government didn't like the awakening and didn't support their development and it continued to be against their existence and refused to join them with the security forces and there was endless troubles between the awakening and the Iraqi army or the police because of the Awakening legality…they have no legal write to exist and no legal write to have authority but they have! They are outlaws and a militia by the Iraqi law because they are civilians carrying weapons and roaming the streets…who should have the final word in an area that is guarded by both the army and the awakening? Those and many other things are the causes of troubles between the army and the awakening although their relations got better in the last 2 or 3 months…so the government decided or (was forced) to pay the awakening and armor them but still they haven't decided to join them with the army or the police! This might be a good thing because they will continue to be awakening but legitimate this time and it might be a bad thing since the government might not pay them at time or don't pay them at all or decrease their salary and in this case many will leave the awakening and what will they do? They will return to their old career; terrorism or they might take this career even if they weren't before because what else do they know or what are the other choices!
And finally I want to discuss something that makes me angry, sad, hopeless and laughing at the same time…..Now it's Ramadan and I think most of you knows what should the Muslims do in Ramadan and for the ones who doesn't know I'll give you a very quick note; Muslims shouldn't drink anything or eat anything or smoke anything in Ramadan from dawn till dusk….and everybody knows that the mask or the appearance of all the troubles in Iraq is religion and sects so it would be a normal thing for anyone to believe that Iraqis became so so religious after the war, right? Well, that's what I though but it appeared to be wrong…most of the people in the streets are not fasting; they are drinking, eating and smoking!!! I was walking by a group of people and they were all smoking and talking about religion!!! What a sarcasm…some of them are willing to fight, or even kill another Iraqi for his sect while he is not doing one of the most important obligations in Islam!!! He will never let his son or his daughter marry someone from the other sect but he doesn't fast or pray….isn't that funny? It gives another strong proof that it's not about religion or sects….its either about money and power for the big heads and ignorance and fanaticism for the fake Iraqis.
