The post is update...scroll down
As I was gathering the thoughts of this post I was on my way back from work and listening to the song "It's not Goodbye" by Laura Pausini and I couldn't find a better title for this post than the name of the song…how much resemblance! But it's kind of the resemblance of differences between what I want to write and the meaning of this great song.
About ten days ago we were visiting one of our best friends (a man and his wife), they have just came back from Syria after spending the last few years there in a pointless and hopeless life with no work or anything bright in the future, just so they can keep breathing, it's not like they were threatened directly but they lived in a very hot area….anyway, because they were in Syria they couldn't have access to blogger or youtube because it's banned there so as we were talking I remembered the video that I made "New country (Iraqi song)" so I showed it to them…they begun to cry and weep because they already figured it was a mistake to come back but because life have such a painful rule that everything with a real value needs sacrifices and work is one of the most valued thing so they sacrificed their safety for it and came back because they have spent all they've got there, in fact their relatives begun spending on theme and supporting them….my friend said " aren't things improving? Maybe Iraq will better soon" and I said "Wait a little longer before you give such judgments, I believe the bastards are just preparing themselves, haven't you noticed their pattern, every while they have a period of silence and they come back stronger, they are just like cancer"
Two days after that day we were getting ready to go to work when we heard three explosions within five minutes, lots of explosions are a normal thing these days so we went out and figured that wherever we go it's closed…it was two explosive packs and an explosive car, all of them in Kasra which is near Adhamiya, it's known for its grocers and restaurants, it's one main street in which all the shops lies and homes are in the side streets, it's a Shiite area and it's people are so kind and polite and nothing sectarian happened there, I have so many friends there and I really liked its people….I got worried because as I said I know many people there so I went on foot to check hoping that the casualties are few and none of them is my friend or someone that I know….I got shocked as I reached there, what an ugly crime, what twisted heads are behind it….the first pack was at the beginning of the street, the car was in the middle of the main street at the entrance of a side street where two of the most famous public restaurants lies; they are the corners of the side street and the other pack was at the end of the street…you can't imagine the load on those restaurant in the morning because they serve very good Iraqi breakfast, I can say that you'll find more than 50 man in those two restaurants in the morning and if you want to eat you will have to wait long before you have a seat, or you can eat standing… I used to be a customer to one of those restaurants and now they are both just a ground…they bastards made those restaurants just ground, I asked an eye witness about the estimated number of casualties and he said" for sure I have seen more than 25 dead people and countless number of injuries ranging from severe to mild injuries, it was a real slaughter" but they said in TV that the injured are about 20 and 15 deaths, it's impossible for me to believe what they said in TV because I know the number of people who eats at those restaurants let alone the two packs and their casualties…I couldn't know for sure if all the people I know are OK but at least I haven't heard any of them is dead. Then I heard from a friend that a car which was picking girls to their high school was totally destroyed and all the young girls are dead and it was so hard to identify them, OH God, those poor young girls, what they have done to deserve such a death while the one who killed them is running free and having fun now with the blood money he got from god knows where…damn it, life is sick sometimes....I believe in Karma and this belief comforts me most of the times but I wish Karma will act faster in Iraq, why not? everything is different in Iraq, why Karma can't be faster here.
The Kasra slaughter was just the beginning for the countless lunatic explosions, it was like the start signal for the bastards, now you can't keep track of explosions, it's everywhere and every few minutes…the explosions are really back, we just thought they were going to end but the reality is different, they were just getting ready and trained to be back again but stronger this time with stronger criminal techniques and minds, so it's not goodbye, I just want to know when can we say goodbye? Will we ever say goodbye!
Update:
One hour after I've finished writing this post I heard a very loud explosion...I called some friends and I knew that it was another explosion in Kasra! God they seem to be determined on planing this neighborhood, but this time it was more twisted....they used a Humvee!!! yes, a Humvee exploded near the bank, this bank is responsible for giving checks for anyone who wants to issue a passport...so it's like this: anyone wanted to issue a passport at that day should visit this bank let alone the loaded cafe besides the bank and the restaurant...it was another massacre...some people said they used a sticky bomb in that Hummer...well, in either cases it seems that the massive number of soldiers of the Iraqi army at that area are just sheep...what they were doing if they haven't noticed a stick bomb in their Hummer! what they were doing when they stick it! what they were doing in the first incident when three explosions took place...they are just sheep in my opinion and they are not doing their job at all....the people behind these operations are really twisted criminals...
PS: you might have noticed that in this post I used "they", "the bastards" and "criminals" and I didn't refer to any specific party or organization because really no body knows....It can be AQ, it can be JAM, it can be Badir Brigade, it can be Iran and AlQuds brigade, it can be the "special groups" and it can be the USA, there is a rumor people are talking about that the US army is behind many of the recent explosions because of the security deal...no one knows because everybody is a suspect and everything is possible, there is nothing certain.

Hi Dr. M,
Who exactly are "the bastards"?
Americans are responsible for these bombings. Notice how these bombings returned just in time to pressure the Iraqi government to sign the security pact after many months of relative calm. America is not your friend, Mohammed.
I suspect the Somali pirates holding the Saudi oil tanker for ransom has something to do with the scheme to finance all these AQ types. It is AQ that does car bombing. The Sadr militia always seemed to use guns and other means of destroying people, but not car bombing.
I believe in karma as well. Just wait, when it comes around to them it will be a real shock to them.
This is terrible news. I read about it on the feeds, but that's nothing to compare with the reality.
Who knows who is responsible for this. There are so many people who are able to do this. It's a pretty awful way of making a statement to say the least.
I am not pro-American by any means, but I don't think that it is the Americans. To the "Anonymous" person, I just want to say, if America is not the friend of the Iraqis, neither are you. What are you doing spreading more hatred and suspicion in a country where chaos and destruction reigns over. What is wrong with you? Do you think before you write?
Mohammed, I am so sad by all of this. I would like to know who the bastards are. I wish they could pay for this and be judged accordingly. Allah will make them repay by the sword of his own justice. Nothing in the world can justify the killings of innocents. Blaming it on everyone will not change what has happened. As Iraq is besieged by so many foreign groups, ranging from Iran to Saudis to USA, I cannot believe that the entire world sometimes is looking at this happening and there is not even justice in reporting accurately. It will take men with a vision and not men with a revenge to lead Iraq out of this. Hold on. You inspire many of us. Thank you for your blog.
The rumor about the US army being behind any attack due to the security agreement is just plain nuts. The army wants out of Iraq sooner and not later. An increase in attacks doesn't get them out of there. It does benefit AQ, because the longer US troops are mired in Iraq, they can't be sent to Afghanistan where they will be sent to stabilize that country and hunt down the leaders of AQ. It's no coincidence that the tape surfaced by Zawhiri at the same time this is happening and the pirates are holding the Saudi oil tanker with $100 million worth of oil headed for the US. AQ has close connections in Somalia and the pirates are from Somalia. It's long been said that UBL owned ships before 9/11. Somebody is using these ships. Looks like it could be pirates from Somalia.
This is just my hunch, but can't think of another explanation.
Baloney! Is it a coincidence that the piracy off Somalia increases just now that the "Pirates of the Carribean" trilogy is out? (I know it's been out a while but it just got to Somalia) I think not. The Somalis all wanna be Jack Sparrow and Hollywood KNEW this would happen. And who are powerful in Hollywood? The JEWS, that's who! Discrediting noble muslims by branding them as pirates. A typical nasty and cowardly Jewish scheme!
No, wait....
Saudi tanker - Bin Laden is Saudi - off Somalia - Somalia has Islamic radicals... it must have been Al Qaeda financing their bombings in Iraq! You're RIGHT!
It can't have been, oh, let's see, criminals hijacking ships to get ransom money because they live in a poverty stricken and lawless country so why not take the risk? For the MONEY, not as part of a grand scheme?
Naaah! It just doesn't make sense.
[ljm] "The army wants out of Iraq sooner and not later."
Nonsense. Why then are they always making objections to timetables and withdrawal deadlines? Why do the Americans STILL refer to the SOFA deadline as "aspirational"? As in, something we would like, one day, maybe.
[ljm] "An increase in attacks doesn't get them out of there."
If aimed AT the Occupation troops themselves, it might.
Aimed at Shiites, all it does is put pressure on Maliki and remind him that without US backing, he runs the risk of being drawn and quartered. If the attack was perpetrated by Iraqis, they are very foolish ones.
The US has always planned on staying in Iraq. These attacks entrench its position.
It's not the U.S. To say so is insane. There's no reason for it and trust me--we want out of there as much as anyone wants us out of there.
I've no proof it is the US. There's plenty of people that want to kill other Iraqis in Iraq without the US being involved. (Although that obviously doesn't rule American fingers out either.) My point is that this sort of thing works FOR the Occupation.
[anon] "we want out of there as much as anyone wants us out of there."
I beg to disagree. Tell that to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen:
The Pentagon's Argument of Last Resort on Iraq - "And this week Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Mike Mullen -- the man President-elect Obama plans to call into the Oval Office as soon as he arrives -- wheeled it into place and launched it like a missile aimed at the heart of Obama's 16-month withdrawal plan for U.S. combat troops in Iraq. It may not sound like much, but believe me, it is. The Chairman simply said, "We have 150,000 troops in Iraq right now. We have lots of bases. We have an awful lot of equipment that's there. And so we would have to look at all of that tied to, obviously, the conditions that are there, literally the security conditions... Clearly, we'd want to be able to do it safely." Getting it all out safely, he estimated, would take at least "two to three years."[...] In a nutshell, the Pentagon's argument couldn't be simpler or more red-bloodedly American: We have too much stuff to leave Iraq any time soon"

Funny thing is, getting INTO Iraq didn't require such a long time, did it?
Last thread I referred to Iraqi money in US banks being vulnerable to lawsuits. There was some skepticism to this, and I didn't have time to search for the relevant article. But today something popped up on the newsfeeds:
"Iraq's Finance Minister Baqer Jabr Solagh on Sunday warned [...] that the agreement was necessary to preserve Iraq's development and reconstruction funds, which enjoy special UN and US financial protection. "Iraq's finances will be in danger if the agreement with Washington is not adopted," he said at a joint Baghdad news conference with Planning Minister Ali Baban. "There have been some dubious cases brought against Iraq by certain people that would force it to pay an estimated one trillion dollars." The Development Fund of Iraq (DFI) is a special account created following the 2003 US-led invasion that is protected by the UN Security Council and a US presidential executive order. This protection prevents anyone from being awarded the funds in lawsuits against Iraq, providing a safe haven for the war-torn country's petroleum revenues. The fund currently holds some 20 billion dollars (16 billion euros). But Solagh said the UN protection will expire when the mandate ends and the presidential order would lapse next year unless the new accord is signed."

I believe this taking of the Saudi oil boat has been a wake up call for King Abdullah. I hope he will now realize that SA has to be more proactive in cleaning up the chaos of Somalia. I'm not sure many in that area or the world would blame SA for 'taking charge' of Somalia. But how would this help Kasra? I dunno. my bad, off topic.
Don't listen to Bruno. He knows little about Iraq, the GoI, or ISF.
The US army is trying hard to draw down to 5 brigades from 21 brigades, so that they can reinforce Afghanistan and many other global missions (Africom for instance.)
They have been trying to do this since early April, 2003. Only now, however, is this withdrawal possible without risking a spike in violence.
Dr. Mohammed, there have been more rumbling about Shia extremists (maybe backed by Iran, but maybe not) trying to conduct terrorist attacks made to look like they were conducted by Al Qaeda. {In fact, many Shia extremists have been arrested and charged with this very thing.}
I know it sounds bad to say, Dr. Mohammed, but every country in the world confronts violence. India has lost tens of thousands of dead civilians to AQ linked terrorists. So have Pakistan and Afghanistan. Those Takfiri animals also killed thousands of Thai civilians, many Indonesians, many Bangladeshis, and have tried to attack Singapore and Malaysia.
What is important is that Iraq develop the autonomous and self reliant capability to resist the Takfiris without foreign help. iraq is making good progress in this direction.
If you don't mind my asking. Are the "Iraqi National Police"--INP--(in their new blue uniforms) doing a better job now? They have been retrained by the Italians. {Thank you "an Italian" :-) }
The IA is starting to transfer large parts of Baghdad directly to the INP and IP, to manage on their own. This transition might see a temporary spike in violence as the INP and IP get their feet wet.
I have to note at this point that Anand is a known liar and fabricator of untruths. He regularly
twists reality around in order to make it conform to his points of view. Notice that he rarely,
if ever, refers to actual facts and actual sources not in his imagination.
Another thing that Anand is adept at doing is playing to the emotional needs of his target. His
target would be you, in this case, dear Mohammed. He sees that you are worried about
extremist Shiites, and goes out of his way to 'share' your concern. Whereas on another blog, that
of Iraqimojo, who is fully pro-Shiite, he will never say a bad word on Shiites and expound at
length on how Pro-Shiite (sayyid this and sayyid that) he is.
Frankly I've got no idea whether he really believes anything he says, or whether its all a ploy
to gain his target's confidence through an emotional bond.
What he does believe in, is American imperialism and the right of America to resort to force of arms to promote its agenda, including the reams of vomit-inducing CENTCOM propaganda that goes with it.
Let's be clear on one thing:
America entered Iraq with the idea of turning it into a permanent outpost of the American system.
It has used force of arms and internal divisions within Iraqi society in order to achieve these
ends. Even today, with the SOFA "status of forces agreement" that is being debated in Iraqi parliament, America speaks with a forked tongue.
Allow me to quote an actual news source on this:
"three officials in Washington said the administration of US President George W. Bush has withheld the official English translation of the agreement to suppress a public dispute with the Iraqis until after the parliamentary vote. The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the official English language text of the agreement was designated as "sensitive but unclassified."
"There are a number of areas in here where they have agreement on the same wording but different understandings about what the words mean," said one US official. The White House National Security Council said it had held up the translation's release until the Iraqi parliament votes.
"We plan to release it soon," said spokesman Gordon Johndroe. "We are waiting for the Iraqi political process to move further down the road."
In the event the SOFA is approved, the US could simply circumvent parts of the agreement, said officials."

In other words, AFTER Iraqi parliament has ratified the treaty, THEN America will tell Iraqis what it means.
Fair?
Twisted?
About as twisted as Anand, I would say.
Dr Mohammed : I think we would like to hear your views on the decision of the Iraqi Parliament over the future of US troops in your country. In the UK the matter has hardly arisen in our media yet due to the concentration on events in Mumbai and the economic crisis. This is my initial response -
http://threescoreyearsandten.blogspot.com/2008/11/welcome-iraqi-referendum.html
Dr. Mohammed, what do Baghdadis think about the Mumbai terrorist attacks? Do they think that the same AQ that attacks Iraqis is attacking Mumbaikers (or Indians.)
Dr. Mohammed, I don't like Bruno because he supports violent attacks against the Iraqi Army.
Yes, I do like Shiites; Indian Shiites, Pakistani Shiites, Afghan Shiites, Iranian Shiites, Iraqi Shiites. I also like Sunnis. I do not deny any of that.
Didn't Muqtada himself say while living inside Iran that Iran was backing Al Qaeda? My sources are Iraqi army, Iraqi government and MNF-I briefings. I trust the Iraqi Army. Am I wrong to do so?
Mohammed, the US government has released the SOFA translation in English. What do Baghdadis think about the SOFA? Will it pass next July?
Could you discuss what parties are contesting the January, 2009 elections, and how each of them are doing? Who might your friends consider voting for?
And I don't like Anand because he supports Americans coming thousands of kilometres across the world to kill Iraqis in order to expand their zone of influence. And I think that those people attacking the Iraqi Army would be better served by directing their energies at the Invader, instead.
With all said and done, let's go back to what really matters to us - our salvation in the hereafter. and to achieve that we must live TAWHEED in our lives. and also tell others about it.
Dear Mohammed,
I do notice that the infamous Snakeworm 'anand' has posted three or four times under this post of yours, spewing his usual, nauseating crap.
I'm a regular reader of yours (although not a regular commentator), but I keep wondering why you actually post what this revolting naturalized American citizen of Indian origin (meaning India, not the Native Americans) sent.
The guy is an enemy of Iraq (and of all humankind), and a supporter of mad imperialist, genocidal, Nazi-style crime (such as the wanton bombing of civilians).
The only time your brother-in-law Zeyad addressed him in public writing was when Zeyad invited the Snakeworm 'anand' to pull out his head from his own arse, instead of posting his "ludicrous drivel" at his 'Healing Iraq' blog.
The foul abomination 'anand' did not get the hint, and he keeps posting, from time to time, more of his revolting posts to Zeyad's blog.
Now, Zeyad has got no 'moderation' on his comments pages: everybody can publish a post, then, in case, he's able to cancel them.
But you DO have moderation at your blog !
So, stop posting the evil crap this criminal (and comical liar) 'anand' spews, dear Mohammed, please !!!
Zeyad, sorry that your blog is becoming a jousting tournament. Who new that your blog could be the scene of more fights than your neighborhood of Baghdad
Italian, for the umpeenth time, I am sorry I called you a Saddamist. I thought you were. I thought that you supported violent attacks against the elected government of Iraq and the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police that report to Iraq's elected government.
I misjudged you. I am sorry. Can we please drop the hatchet? We are both human beings who want what is best for Iraq. Let us admit that we share a common hope that Iraq succeeds, while disagreeing on some tactics for how to bring it about.
Dr. Mohammed, some more bad news, oil fell to $46 a barrel. This is likely to cause the MoF to carry out a new round of very deep and painful spending cuts.
On the bright sides, the offical violence data for November was released. November, 2008, had less violence than any other month since February, 2003. Most of the violence that did occur were the result of high profile terrorist attacks against Iraqi population centers. Let us pray that this pause in violence lasts and deepens.
Unrelated questions:
- Any reactions to SOFA?
- Any reactions to the transfer of all security responsibility inside Baghdad from the MNF-I to the ISF and GoI? Now, it is planned for May/June.
- I have heard that the Italian retrained Iraqi National Police (INP) in their new blue uniforms are much more popular and respected than the old INP. Is this your observation?
Dr. Mohammed, is there any discussion of the Mumbai terrorist attacks? Do Iraqis think that the same AQ that attacks Iraqis is attacking Mumbaikers (or Indians.)
It is now confirmed that all the attackers were foreign terrorists; many of them were members of Lashkar e Toiba, an Al Qaeda affiliate. Lashkar e Toiba declared Osama Bin Laden to be its emir in 1999. Lashkar e Toiba has also been behind many of the deadliest attacks against the Afghan Army, Afghan Police, NATO and US troops inside Afghanistan.
Unfortunately, it looks like Al Qaeda doesn't only want to kill Iraqis, they seem to want to kill almost everyone who lives in this world.
I know it is a little late, but Eid saida mubarak!
Murder ISF Bruno: "And I don't like Anand because he supports Americans coming thousands of kilometres across the world to kill Iraqis in order to expand their zone of influence. And I think that those people attacking the Iraqi Army would be better served by directing their energies at the Invader, instead."
So this is current KSA propaganda?
I support America training and equipping the IA so that they become the most capable army in recorded Arab history; and can delivery a crushing blow to the Takfiris inside Iraq and around the world.
Bruno, fall on your knees and thank the Iraqi Army for protecting you and yours from the Takfiri. Because of their sacrifice and valor, you and your family is kept safe.
Soon the day will come when the IA doesn't need anyone's help to crush all of Iraq's enemies.
