I want to write about three things….first one is an event that the media tried so hard to cover it up but the word spread because of the witnesses and the other thing is the awakening and the current developments and I'll finish it with a real irony.
The event I want to talk about took place in Alshaab international stadium where the final match for the Iraqi league between AlZawraa and Arbil took place at August 24th 2008 with 50,000 Iraqi in the stadium and many "hot shots" attended the match like Ali AlDabag (Government spokesman), Aboud Kanbar (the leader of Baghdad operations), Kasim Atta and Amar AlHakim with some US army officers and soldiers…some say that the audience begun throwing trash and empty water bottles on the US soldiers (a friend of mine show me a photo for this but it was in a mobile phone that don't have a Bluetooth and he said that he will send it by email but he didn't till now) and some say that the people begun cheering "No..No..USA" "No No to traitors" then all of them begun cheering "Brothers Sunni and Shiite…we will not sell this country"
Few days ago I knew that the awakening will begin taking their salary from the Iraqi government starting from October…well, this might appear like good news but I'm fearing that it might be bad when one thinks well about it.
Since day one of the awakening establishment the government didn't like the awakening and didn't support their development and it continued to be against their existence and refused to join them with the security forces and there was endless troubles between the awakening and the Iraqi army or the police because of the Awakening legality…they have no legal write to exist and no legal write to have authority but they have! They are outlaws and a militia by the Iraqi law because they are civilians carrying weapons and roaming the streets…who should have the final word in an area that is guarded by both the army and the awakening? Those and many other things are the causes of troubles between the army and the awakening although their relations got better in the last 2 or 3 months…so the government decided or (was forced) to pay the awakening and armor them but still they haven't decided to join them with the army or the police! This might be a good thing because they will continue to be awakening but legitimate this time and it might be a bad thing since the government might not pay them at time or don't pay them at all or decrease their salary and in this case many will leave the awakening and what will they do? They will return to their old career; terrorism or they might take this career even if they weren't before because what else do they know or what are the other choices!
And finally I want to discuss something that makes me angry, sad, hopeless and laughing at the same time…..Now it's Ramadan and I think most of you knows what should the Muslims do in Ramadan and for the ones who doesn't know I'll give you a very quick note; Muslims shouldn't drink anything or eat anything or smoke anything in Ramadan from dawn till dusk….and everybody knows that the mask or the appearance of all the troubles in Iraq is religion and sects so it would be a normal thing for anyone to believe that Iraqis became so so religious after the war, right? Well, that's what I though but it appeared to be wrong…most of the people in the streets are not fasting; they are drinking, eating and smoking!!! I was walking by a group of people and they were all smoking and talking about religion!!! What a sarcasm…some of them are willing to fight, or even kill another Iraqi for his sect while he is not doing one of the most important obligations in Islam!!! He will never let his son or his daughter marry someone from the other sect but he doesn't fast or pray….isn't that funny? It gives another strong proof that it's not about religion or sects….its either about money and power for the big heads and ignorance and fanaticism for the fake Iraqis.

My friend this happens in all countries and in all religions.
For example the US. Lots of people there go to the church confess their sins, etc, etc. But they agree with the killing of innocent people, just because they are muslins. This makes them ignorant and hypocrites at the same time.
It's always about power and money.
Dr.Mohammed:
You, me, and countless others have expressed our opinions about money and power being the main reason for the continued hostilities in Iraq. This is not news, however, it is distressing to hear that so many Iraqis are disobeying their faith when it comes to fasting. As much as I hope for a secular government in Iraq, I never hoped to see a loss of faith. Perhaps this is just one more cost of war. Please do not lose your faith, it is the one thing that enables a person to continue in these troubling times. Have an enjoyable rest of Ramadan, and God bless you and your wife and your expected baby.

M, my guess is that Malaki will pay them at first in order to abide by agreements. When americans fall back to bases farther outside the cities, there will arise some 'problem' that Malaki will determine must result in no more payments for the wakeful ones. Someone has to pay these people. In the US we have 'Welfare' payments to keep down the violence. Anyway, good to see you back, pen in hand again!
