Urgent…..attention required.

Today I have been an eye witness of one of the cruelest crimes committed against innocent Iraqis…I've seen something very similar to the crimes of Black water….
I was shopping at about 11:30 am from a compound of super markets and I saw the Turks shopping, they have parked their cars (armored navy blue Mercedes A class) and they were on foot; carrying their guns and wearing armors, it's something ordinary to see them there, they always do shopping from there …I was going to that compound when I remembered I want to buy meat so I entered the butcher's shop which is 50 meter away from the supermarkets, after 5 minutes I went out of the shop and as soon as I stepped out of the butcher's shop I noticed that the rifle of one of the Turks shot accidentally (or that's what I think it was) then the other Turks started shooting randomly (I think they though they were attacked), they were shooting at people like they are not humans, they were shooting like they were shooting at dogs…people started to run and others tried to hide and I immediately went back to the Butcher's shop…they continued shooting and the whole crime took about 1 or 2 minutes then they ran back to their cars and went away without thinking of what have they caused and who was injured or killed, few minutes later I went to the site and I saw the people who were there carrying two men…one of them was an old man injured in the head and was unconscious (most probably he was dead) and the other one was covered with blood but I think he was injured in the leg and torso (I think he will not survive)…I can't describe what my feeling was…no words can be satisfactory to see innocent people killed like this for nothing they have done…and the ones who killed them just went away like nothing happened…IRAQIS ARE HUMANS ….the ones who were killed are HUMANS not sheep….then the people who were carrying the injured stopped taxis and they took them to hospitals…I saw two casualties but some say there were more on the other side of the street…I'm not sure but I saw two…and blood was allover the place…WHY? I just want to know why the Iraqi blood is so cheap in the world's eyes…I'm sure it wasn't mentioned in the news and that what makes me even angrier…I swear I felt a deep urge to write this post…this post is one the posts that I really needed to write….I want to expose what happened and I beg anyone who reads it to spread the word because this is the only thing Iraqis can do…there is no one to ask justice from…no where to press charges…justice can't be obtained in Iraq and justice is not for innocent Iraqis…so the only thing we can do is spreading awareness…Who gave the authority to those Turkish bastards to shoot in a crowded street? Who are they to do that? I want justice…I want revenge for those poor innocent Iraqis who died in front of me and I want justice's revenge, at least I want the whole world to know what they did, although I'm sure nothing will be done like in the case of Black water…I can't describe what I felt today…it was a combination of fear (during the incident) and anger, disgust and an urge for revenge after it…I'm in real sorrow for what Iraq is now, I'm in sorrow for the Iraqis who get killed every day in crimes like this and their families can't do anything, I'm in deep sorrow for those innocent people who died today…I'm in sorrow for the way Iraqis are treated in the "new, liberated, democratic and luxurious" Iraq !!!!
I WANT THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD TO KNOW.

Mohammed,
I cannot fathom what life is like in this ravaged and war torn country of yours. And that this is supposed to be accepted as normal? How can you live and why stay? I know that America created your hell on earth and before I have stated I think we should clean up the mess we created, but what is the role we can play? Are we too hated to be of any value in your country? Is there a place for us to help? I want to help. I am tired of the disinformation I receive and am so confused as to what we as Americans can do. The media and our government would have us believe that you Iraqis, "the good ones," would never have us leave. But I cannot see myself wanting to live in a continuous state of occupation.

You can't buy peace, I am sure of that. You can't intimidate people in to it either, we seem to have tried that as well. So what role do you see as an effective one for Americans to play? I know you stated the displaced Iraqi people need a place to go and I am in total agreement with that, but what I am looking for is this: our government is spending tons of money, as well as man/woman hours in Iraq and it does not seem to be for the right things. What could our government be doing that would help? It makes me so mad to read your postings because it just doesn't seem to be getting better. I know you and your countrymen have been forced to sacrifice and please believe me, I know many people here who sacrifice for this Bush war. My son will be six when his father finally comes home. He will have been gone 75% of his life and I am to consider myself lucky. I am selfish. I want my little boy's sacrifice to be for something, not just death and destruction. I want our country to do the right thing, but being such an outsider, I have no idea what the right thing is. Please tell me Mohammed because I truly want to help.

I am very sorry to hear about this terrible event you described. It’s awful.

In the U.S. the Military does not act as the Police. The military is prevented by law from Policing civilians. The Military are happy about this and so are the civilians. The rules of engagement for the Military are very different from standard Police procedure. It's not fair to the Military to put them in that position. A Police officer learns his area and when crimes are committed he has allies he has developed, and he can go to them or vice versa. A Police officer is not an outside force imposing his will on the enemy. He is part of the community, working with the good community members to root out the bad ones. A Soldier forced to act as a Police officer quickly becomes seen as an occupier. Soldiers are trained to defeat the enemy, and they do. When it's hard to tell who the enemy is, things get dangerous.

When are the people of Iraq going to ask for a referendum to see what the will of the Iraqi people is? Are they willing to say "You can go now, we will take it from here"?

great post mohammed.
let's see who we've got here spilling iraqi blood.
we have the scum called americans, the iranians, the turks, the dirty gangs from blackwater, the australians, the japanese, the ukrainians, the latin americans, the africans, the israelis, the kurds, and the iraqis themselves.

I hate the world - fuck them all!!!!

Iraqi Mojo said...

How sad. I didn't even read about this in the media. Iraq is luxurious?

Funny (and quite appropriate) that "true iraqi" slams the Japanese, Ukrainians, the Latin Americans (huh?), but not a word about the Syrians, Saudis, and other Gulfie jarab who sent Allah knows how many suicide bombers to mass murder Iraqis.

Iraqi Mojo said...

"Resistance is the answer."

Try not to kill any Iraqis while you "resist" please.

Dr. Mohammed says: "I'm in sorrow for the way Iraqis are treated in the "new, liberated, democratic and luxurious" Iraq !!!!"

So much for the Islamic ummah.

As long as Muslims consider non-Muslims and other Muslims as lesser people, looking upon them as "infidels" there will be such slaughter until the last day.

When the U.S. and the coalition troops leave, no longer placing themselves between the Islamic criminals trying to wipe each other out, the Muslim on Muslim slaughter will no doubt get even worse.

Look to yourselves, Mohammedans! If YOU stop the barbarism, there will be peace. If YOU want democracy then YOU need to fight and die for it. If not, then stay in the 7th century.

It's too easy for me to sit in my warm home, my cupboards filled with too much food, and say you shouldn't hate. If I was in your position, what would be in my heart? How would I not want revenge.

My heart breaks for Iraq and how it has been sacraficed in the name of democracy. It's a farce and we see through it. And Iraqi blood is as precious as American, or Chinese, or Palestinian or Russian.

Enough. Light must start to shine.

Annie,
Thank you for your compassion …god bless you

Mahmood,
A great word you said

Anon.,
I don't know what kind do you support…but I'm totally against a resistant in which Iraqis are killed, because that will not be a resistant when you kill your own people…I wish you support the real resistance.

Blue army wife,
You are a very good and noble person….I wish there are a lot like you in he world…everyone can find a way to help and I know you will if you could.even a nice word is considered help some times.

Anon.,
No one said anything about the army!!! By the way those Turks weren't an army they were employees of the Turkish embassy in Iraq!!!

True Iraqi,
Don't take that position and hate everyone…there are good guys and bad guys in every nation….but the criminals must be punished in every nation.

Iraqi Mojo,
Yes it wasn't mentioned anywhere, and I couldn't take any photos for it because I felt it's inappropriate to do that, people have just died and I'm taking photos!!! It doesn't feel right.

Anon. (Nandia),
You have been awarded the most ignorant reader that commented in my blog!!!! First of all Turks are Muslims!!! Second of all, read all my posts and I dare you if you found me mentioning any religion whether Christian or Muslim or Jewish, I mentioned Islam and Yazidists in one post because I had to because it was the reason after a crime in which a young girl was killed….you are a racist and I hate racists so much…so you are saying all the Muslims are barbarian and they want to live in the 7th century….I think I don't need to answer you because you are so ignorant …you think all the Muslims only wish to kill each other!! You are so superficial and I don't want to waste my time with someone like you.

Anon.,
Thank you.

Sandybelle,
I wish that too.

I am totally confused. Are the Turks in Baghdad as private contractors? What are they doing there? I know about the tensions with Turkey and the Kurds in the north.

It always seems like when the weather gets hot again, violence increases. Too many people are roaming around Iraq with guns and bombs. I'm so sorry you went through this experience and for all the suffering of innocent Iraqis.

Indigo said...

Could I ask your Turkish readers, if there are any, to pursue this with their national authorities.

It is bad enough that Blackwater and the US army shoots randomly in all directions when they get nervous. In fact, it is a war crime. Why would Turks want to associate themselves with the US and Blackwater, by committing the same crimes - and against fellow Muslims?

The employees of the Turkish embassy who did this must be held accountable and, if found guilty, punished for this crime. They must also make reparations to the families of those whom they murdered.

Come on, you of Turkish nationality: if you say and do nothing, you are an "accessory" to the crimes of your fellow countrymen and as bad as the Americans.

More of those "liberated" Iraqis. Why? Ah, I remember. Saddam was evil and had weapons of mass destruction. Connections with Al Qaida were his sport. And I also remember that Al Qaida carried out the terrorist acts on 911.

C.H. said...

Mohammed,

I understand what you mean. I can't stand it when I have to watch the news and they portray Iraqis as nothing but statistics. To make matters worse, it is turned into a political issue.

Please stay safe, and be careful

steen said...

Did you report the incident?
Will the police investigate the crime?
There were many witnesses. It should be easy to identify the murderers and charge them or evict them if they have diplomatic visas.

Anonymous said...

I think it's completely obvious what needs to be done here. Launch a criminal investigattion to find out what happened and who did what. If crimes have been comitted, as it seems they have, the perpetrators needs to be identified and tried by the law. Iraqi law.

This should be the case regardless of what "civilian security personel" are involved. Either you are an occupier, i.e a US/UK soldier, and under your countrys military law. Otherwise you are a civilian and a civilian adheres to the law in the country he/she is in. It's really very simple. Who would accept foreign civilians in their country committing crimes and being above any law? I know I wouldn't.

If Blackwater, Turks, etc. wishes to operate in Iraq then abide by Iraqi law. Otherwise get the fuck out, it's not like you will be dearly missed after all.

LJM,
they are employees of the Turkish embassy in Baghad...I don't know what they really are they might be guards, employees or contracters...they were carrying the Turkish flag on their cars and on their vests.

Indigo,
yoy are right...but see comment of An Italian...he posted the link for the Turkish version of the story...which is a complete lie.

Alexander,
good sarcasim.

C.H,
Thanks.

Steen,
I'm sorry I don't mean to desrespect but you don't live in Iraq and you think things work like it works in your country....but I really laughed when I read the comment...do you know why? because on the opposite side of the street is an Iraqi army checkpoint and few meters away there is a police checkpoint and they stood like stupid donkeys watching what is happening...what makes me angry and sad is that there is no where to go and ask justice from....Today I went to the site and I knew who was injured...he was a shop owner that I used to buy from sometimes.

Marcus,
well said and that's what I wish will happen but it will never happen!!!

An Italian,
Thank you very much for the link.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the article!!! I can't imagine how can they twist the truth like that!!! OH GOD...they made me more angry....what is said in this article might be true in one condition...that's if they are talking about another incident...maybe they were attacked after they killed those inocent Iraqis!!! just maybe ... but I think they are just lying.

Don Cox said...

"they are employees of the Turkish embassy in Baghad.."____So at least they are nothing to do with the invasion and occupation. You can hardly call for the expulsion of an embassy, but there should certainly be a full enquiry into what happened. Sometimes a newspaper campaign can open up things like this, but I'm not sure how strong Iraqi newspapers are.

I can't imagine the horror of witnessing this, however "Neurotica" might know who to contact with your account of events. Perhaps through an informal channel your identity can remain hidden. See: http://neurotic-iraqi-wife.blogspot.com/

This is AFP's press report in which the Turkish Foreign Ministry says they want to "pursue" the matter, suggesting they may have some suspicions. It's dated May 17 at 12:58 ET which is 4:58 PM UTC or 7:58 PM Baghdad time:
"ANKARA (AFP)--A member of security staff at the Turkish embassy in Baghdad was wounded Saturday when attackers opened fire near the mission with machine guns, the foreign ministry said in Ankara. The officer - a member of the Turkish police special operations unit - received three bullets in the leg when the unidentified assailants fired at a group of security men. "We strongly condemn this attack," said a Turkish foreign ministry statement. "We will continue to pursue the matter until light has been shed on all its aspects." Link:

Chris Baker,
Thank you very much for sharing this with us...It seems that it was a revenge attack because they killed the Iraqis at about 11:45 am and they were attacked at 7:58 pm....an eye for an eye...although it's not an eye in this case because they killed two Iraqis and only one of them was hurt...and they without any shame condemn this act!!! they should condemn them selves and be honest and talk about what really happened.

Chris Baker said...

My feeling is that in this case you must keep your identity secret, even from American reporters. Instead let the rumors swirl (spread).

Dear Mohammed, it seems that there is no respite for the suffering of your countrymen. What has happened to Iraq is the greatest crime of this century. I really hope that twenty years from now when people talk about the perpetrators of the invasion and the chaos and the killing, that they will have to spit on the floor to clean their mouths out afterwards.

And I'm not surprised that the 'reported' version of events is different to what really happened. Things get filtered all the time in the media.

Thank you for letting us know about this.

I hope that the families of the victims are alright. Might the Turks pay compensation to the families?

What do you think set off the firestorm?

Anonymous said...

Have you been snorting extra strong curry today you lunatic?

Just because a slimy worm such as you might feel that monetary compensation makes it "alright" for the victims' families this is not actually so.

You see, we humans value our relatives and loved ones more than money. We do not feel "alright" if someone slays them like cattle and throw us a few Rupees as compensation for our loss.

That a lowly Bhangi such as yourself should think so is perhaps understandable. After all you were raised thinking that those above you, meaning almost everyone, could treat you whatever way they liked and be just in doing so. Fell there ever any scraps from their tables you were not late to crawl at their feet claiming their scraps, careful not to defile them with your touch. Did they ever slay any of your kin you instantly submitted, threw yourself at their mercy hoping that maybe, just maybe, you'd not only be spared but perhaps also come out ahead somehow.

But, you see. This is not India. These people are not lowly Bhangi. They do not settle for their imposed masters scraps. You speak of thing you cannot comprehend.

So, hush worm!

Dr. Mohammed:

Seeing that the Iraqi Army is in control of Basra, Sadr City seems to be quited and a final battle appears to be going on in Mosul, do you think that this might be a harbinger of the beginning of a withdrawal of American forces?

If so, do you think that that will make things better? Or worse?

I mean, if the government manages to gradually increase control of the streets, incidents like this will become less common, I should think. There won't be the excuse that people have to take care of themselves in the lawless streets of Baghdad.

Would that be good news for you, even if the police are sometimes brutal or unfair?

Or what to you would be a possible way forward?

Please take care of yourself, by the way. I am thinking of the poor fellow called BlogIraq...

This is what happens if you let corporations run a war... I see a lot of people asking 'What can i do'... Here in Belgium we got a saying: 'If everyone cleans in front of his own house, then the world would be a fine place'. I'm not saying that everyone should be an individualist but you can start with small things...
1. Drop of your savings at a bank that doesn't put their money in oil businesses, arms manufacturers... (google for ethical investments, savings).
2. Think globally but eat locally. A lot of produce is transported around the world. (A lot of belgian onions in africa as example). DON'T! transporting needs lots of oil and some government tend to invade countries beacuse there so hooked up on oil...
3. Walk, take the bus, public transport leave that car at home... I'm 30 years old and have no driver license... :-) It's healthier and good for the environment.

To change this world we have to change ourself first....

Mutz, the solution is globalization, and letting the markets take care of all commodity prices.

The rest of us have to adjust to the higher price for commodities.

We are already seeing other energy substituting for oil. This will accelerate.
