The incidents in the last couple of days was really frustrating for me and my hopes for a better future, because again I figured that I was so naïve to think things will improve, it's true that some areas changed from very troubled to "Iraqi normal" areas, that means it's dangerous but like the others not more……
Today there has been an explosion by a suicide car bomb in Bab AlMuatham providence near the square , where many important buildings lies; the ministry of health, a governmental clinic, the dentistry, medicine and pharmacy colleges, the dental technical institute and a very crowded transportation garage all of these near the are of the explosion.
I have many friends who works at that clinic, one of them was so close to the explosion on his way to work , in fact he was two cars away from it…. He was with his mother in the car when the explosion happened, the car was totally destroyed and his mother was seriously injured, he survived the incident with scratches only because the explosion was at his mother's side so she took the shock instead of him, the explosion was so sever that even his mobile phone was broken, his mother is in hospital now, they are doing operations for her.
My friends said that at least 15 people have died in this explosion till now, and many are seriously injured, most of my friend's cars have been damaged by this explosion they said that it was so sever.
Another huge explosion was near my house today, I don't know about it, but the explosion was so strong.
Before that, At Friday I was really sad and heart broken for the poor people who died in AlGhazil market, the sick bastard who planned the explosion placed an explosive pack in the middle of birds-filled cage, because this market is for pets, and they only open at Fridays, more than 15 people have died in this explosion.
What I feared from has occurred, the relative peace and quietness that we have witnessed in the past couple of weeks was just for terrorist's re-evaluation, it seems that the terrorists from all the sides were just planning what to do next, they were planning how to overcome the current changes and achievements, I don't know why but they always seem to succeed, why can't we have peace for at least a month?
Well, I think I know part of the answer, because today as the ministry of anterior has announced in a survey that they made that: 19,000 of it's members can't read or write!!!! 12% of the police force can't read or write!!! I just want to know how could they do their job when they can't even read the cars papers or even the IDs? That's a shocking part of the answer.
Now I know why these incidents happened with me in which I laughed my guts out, once a checkpoint stopped me and the policeman asked for my ID and the car papers, to my surprise, he hold the paper upside down and pretended that he is checking them, he looked at it for a moment and then told me I can go, what a farce.
And now I know why many times when they take the ID and the papers they stare at them like they were comparing a drawings to find the differences!!
I just want to know how could a force that 12% of it can't read or write bring peace and settlement back to a torn-up country like Iraq?
You can see how silly, ignorant and irresponsible our police is by watching this video, it's very funny but very sad at the same time. those are the examples of the new Iraqi law, and by the way, most of the time when I pass near a police or army vehicle I hear the loud songs, it's like there job is to have fun not to take care of the civilians lives they are responsible for, that's if they were not playing in their mobiles!!
I couldn't imagine that all the Iraqi society have this number of people who can't read or write, the education is free and obligatory in Iraq since the 80's.
Note:
Me and my friends are collecting donations for our friend whose mother was injured, to cover the expenses of the operations and help him to fix his car (his financials are not that good), if anyone feels like he wants to help, he can donate in my account because from this moment till the next week the donations will be saved for him. We told him that we will collect that maximum we can get in two weeks, but the withdrawal procedures are a bit complex because we don't have PayPal in Iraq so I gave a week for the cash to be here.

Dr.M:
I just hit your donation button for 50GBP ($105USD). I hope this helps a little, and I hope some of your other regular commenters can also pitch in something.
It's what they want, of course, Mohammed. To take away your hope, to drain your courage, to sap your strength. To get you back under the jackboot. Don't let them succeed.
Bridget
The market was bombed by the Mahdi militia,so people would feel unsafe and turn to Mogtada for safety. As evil and twisted as that sounds,a number of confessions have backed up the claim.
I enjoyed the video Mohammed. It's nice to see IP's able to relax and kick up their heels with locals. Thousands of IP's lost their lives in the last few years. They suffered a lot more casualties than the IA or U.S. soldiers.
Tom in Texas,
That was very generous of you, and be sure that would really help a lot.
By the name of my friend and me, thank you very much and may god bless you.
Bridget,
I know that's their goal, but I wish they don't continue in their successes. they are like cancer, when you think you have beaten it, it appears else where, terrorism is like a cancer that's my opinion.
Perry,
I'm sure that's possible and true.
by the way,
you have a comment about investing in the Iraqi Dinar, I don't know well in these stuff, but you can write an email to me about your idea and I'll try to help as much as I can.
Mohammed,I got 5M dinar for 4000US on EBAY of all places. 200 crisp 25,000 dinar banknotes. It's actually pretty close to the official exchange rate. The U.S. is going to put a lot more money into Iraq in the years ahead to get the economy going strong. I think the dinar is a great investment.
perry,
that's too much, they sold you the Dinar too expensive, it's a lot more than the price here.
it's far away from the exchange rate, believe me.
I wish they don't continue in their successes either, Mohammed.

I just checked a currency converter:
1 USD = 1228.35 IQD
If my math is correct, you made 2.7%
Mohammed, I no very little of the internal system you have there re: education, as you say its been compulsory since the 80's...maybe the poorer illiterate iraqi sees the police force as a way out, pay/money wise, so it draws these types..i suggest this as it is that way often with our army (privates)Its seen as a way to get ahead, job security, pension plans.12% does sound alot, and I no with our police there is a heavy load of writing, reports statements etch
You would think that the police force had entrance exams... I hope your friends mother will recover ok...both she and your friends are in my prayers....as you and ur wife always...abbey
ps, I will try and get some cash into ur account...Just waiting for payday....take care always Mohammed
Mohammed,I think Tom is right. I got a good deal. I think a lot of the dinars being sold on EBAY were purchased for 1400 or more per dollar last year. The dinar is up over 20% in the last year. Problem is,the websites hawking them take a nice cut on the buy and the sell. One site wanted $950 for a million dinars, but was only paying $610. That's just greedy.

Tom,
That's right, the rate is just right, where did you convert it?
Abbey,
Thank you very much for your concern and prayers, yes you were right in the point that they want a career, but the ministry shouldn't accept them unless they know how to read or write, or at least gives them courses, that's what they announced will do.
Perry,
I wish there is a way that I can send IQD for a much much cheaper price, but I don't think that is possible, and by the way you should pay attension to two things:
first- you must check well if these 25,000s are not forged, because there are many perfectly forged ones, and the way you can know it by is a bit difficult.
second- you must know that the dinar will be stronger the next year so it's a wise think to buy it now (that's what I've heared)
Finally,
I'd like to thank all the people who donated so far.
I've called my friend today to check about his mother, he said that she is not stable till now but she will survive it as the doctors say, she must stay for at least a week for observation and she might need another operation. I'll donate 100$ for him when I recieve my salary at the begining of next month,
Thank you guys for your generousity and humanity.
You are really a good friend, Mohammed. I'm sorry your friend's mother had to go through this. That's the point of terrorist attacks, to keep people living in fear. I hope the catch the ring leaders and arrest them. As for the literacy rate, we have a problem with illiteracy here too. Those ministeries need to start a program for their people to teach them to read and write at least for the basics and a conversational level. Well enough to read a newspaper. I'll see where I am toward the end of the week to donate to your friend. The dollar just keeps dropping against the pound.
ويأتي السلام ، وغني عن السلام ، وين نهاية ، ومن كل نفس
a neat little message i found, very sad but true
Ljm,
Yeah I totally agree with that they should at least teach them how to read the names and the papers of cars and IDs
Andrew,
Thank you very much for the line but I think it was in english and you translate it to arabic, right?
BAGHDAD (AFP) - The United Nations is helping Iraq deal with problems related to the return of refugees...
"Iraqi generals said on Sunday that large numbers of refugees were streaming back to their homeland, mainly from Syria, but did not specify how many."
"The Iraqi transport ministry said on Tuesday a fleet of buses had been sent to Syria to pick up returnees and was expected back in the next few days. They would be escorted by the Iraqi military from the border to Baghdad."
11/26/07 NYTimes:
"At a row of travel agencies near the highway to Syria, the tide of migration has reversed: the buses and GMC Suburban vans filled with people heading to Damascus run infrequently, while those coming from the border appear every day."
Mohammed. The literacy issue with MoI (Ministry of Interior) is well known.
Very fast, MoI consists of about:
26 K INP
32 K DBE
150 K Provincial and local IP
100 K FPS (Facilities Protection Force)
A lot of the FPS where hired by various ministries independently (and have only recently been taken over by the MoI). Many are complete junk. The MoI isn’t even sure how many FPS it has or who serves in it. They plan to conduct a census of the FPS next year. That is how bad it is.
Some of the provincial and local IP were also were recruited haphazardly.
The problems you mention relate to the FPS and Provincial/local IP. The MoI didn’t have a competent relatively less sectarian minister until last year. Before that it was Badr, and before that MoI tried to create a force from scratch overnight without training and equipping so that Rumsfeld could quickly pull US troops out of Iraq.
BTW, the MoD (Ministry of Defence) forces are far better. They only take 20% of old Iraqi Army applicants who apply to join. The rest are pensioned. All new recruits have to pass rigorous and tough screening on competency, health, and literacy. The MoD has also “retired” most of its generals and senior officers over the last two years. It is becoming a class act.
I would love to inform you further about the ISF.
A good place to post questions about the ISF is: SoldiersDad2.blogspot.com
Some of the smartest and most knowledgeable people regarding the ISF reside there. Collectively, they can give some amazingly accurate and detailed answers.

yes, it was a translator, there are probable a few grammatical errors, thats why i plain to learn Arabic if my college or academy offers one
How sad about the Iraqi refugees?
What must they be thinking? They had to flee for their lives in leaving Iraq. They left their homes and possessions behind.
What will they be returning to?
